Zhaoming Academy was named after Xiao Tong, Crown Prince Zhaoming in the Southern Dynasties who had studied in Wuzhen. The academy sits on the north facing the south, and the second floor of the half-back corridor is a hard-shelled ancient building complex. It is the largest library in China's ancient town. The front hall displays the statue of Prince Zhaoming and the famous Wuzhen cultural celebrities. The entrance to the main gate is the stone memorial of “heritages of six dynasties” in Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. The main building is the Zhaoming Academy Library, which has over 10,000 books and magazines, including culture, social science, art, leisure and tourism and is constantly being added. On the first floor of the library are a reading room, a conference room and an electronic reading room named after Mr. Mu Xin, a master of Wuzhen contemporary art, and also are a lecture hall, a painting room, a classroom, etc. There is also a bookstore on the side of the library, which has a hydrophilic platform. There is a brick ink brush writing table on the cloister, which is a quiet place to come to the cultural atmosphere of Wuzhen.
