In the past, Wuzhen was located at the junction of two provinces, three prefectures, and seven counties, with densely distributed river channels extending in all directions. The villages of surrounding towns and villages were accustomed to rocking boats in the early morning to come out for morning tea and go to the morning market. They brought their vegetables and livestock to the market for sale and supplement their household needs, gradually forming a very lively market. As long as the residents near the river shouted, the boat would go to the water pavilion, and they could buy fresh vegetables without going out, which was very popular among residents, so it is still prosperous to this day.

It is divided in two by an east-west wooden plank bridge, which faces Jingxing Bridge across the Xishi River. Water pavilions are built on the east and west sides of the water area near the river.
In the early morning, before the morning mist had cleared, the Shuishikou was bustling and bustling. In the water pavilions, tea houses, meat shops, snack shops, and tofu stalls on both sides had also removed their door planks and opened early, marking the beginning of a day in the water town.
In the evening, dusk shrouded the small town, and little lights shone through the lattice of the water pavilion windows and the doors cracks. The tea houses, night snacks, and barbecue shops on both sides of the Shuishikou became lively again, and people enjoyed the carefree after a day of work here.
