The religious culture of Wuzhen has flourished since ancient times. There are both indigenous religions such as Taoism and also foreign religions such as Buddhism and Christianity. Wuzhen had a certain scale of temple architectures in the Nanliang period. There were 53 temples in its heyday. The architectural forms include temple, Taoism temple, tower, nunnery, monastery, hall and shrine, etc., which enshrine many bodhisattvas or local gods and industry gods. Today, there are many religious sites in the West Scenic Zone. There are also Shifo Temple and Ciyun Temple nearby. They are sufficient to prove the religions here are very popular .
