The Fang Lu Teahouse has a very good location. It faces Changfeng Street, and leans against the Xishihe River. You can see bridges when opening the door and the beautiful river when opening windows. It is the most famous teahouse with best scenery. It is famous for two reasons: One is that its name is related to Lu Yu, the "Tea Saint" in history. According to legend, Lu Tong, the founder of this teahouse, once saved Lu Yu's life in Taihu Tea Mountain. Lu Yu once visited Lu Tong with tea which he had personally collected in order to thank Lu Tong for saving his life. And the name of "Fang Lu House" came from this. The second reason is that it is related to Mao Dun, a great master of modern literature. Mao Dun's house is not far away from this Teahouse. Mao Dun's grandfather Shen Enpei often went to the Fang Lu Teahouse for drinking tea. Mao Dun wrote in his memoir “The Road I Had Walked”: "Grandfather's life was very regular. Every morning, he drank tea at the Fang Lu Teahouse which was often visited by local gentlemen or businessmen or listened to music in the West Garden." Mao Dun often went to the teahouse with his grandfather when he was young. If you are interested, you can also have a drink in this teahouse after the visit.
