Hehe Yuanbao head, also known as the "Eight Delicacies Fish Head". It is a tribute dish from the Qianlong period that has been passed down among the people of Wuzhen to this day.
According to legend, in the 30th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Qianlong traveled to Jiangnan and disappeared for three days in Shimenying. It is said that Emperor Qianlong, along with two young men, rode a flat boat and anchored the boat along the Jinghang Grand Canal in Wu Village, West Gate, Wuzhen, to search the woman of clothes washing and cloth starching. Unexpectedly, that night, they met a village girl with a blue printed floral short shirt, red lips, and a dignified face. The emperor was greatly pleased, and he ordered the young men to carry an "Eight Delicacies Fish Head" tribute box with patterns of happiness, fortune, and longevity, and drank wine and had fun at the village girl's house. The next morning, they left behind a Hehe tribute box, a Yuanbao shaped fish head, and a nine-dragon boat plaque. Over time, the dish “Eight Delicacies Fish Head” was renamed 'Hehe Yuanbao Head', becoming an indispensable VIP dish for festive banquets.
In the early stages of the 2015 Wuzhen Drama Festival and the World Internet Conference, Wuzhen Tourism restored and launched this tribute dish, which was cooked with eight ingredients including the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal's super chubby head fish and fish balls, sea cucumber, bamboo fungus, ham, mushroom, fresh abalone, shrimp, and broccoli. We have followed the habit of using a Hehe tribute box to bring it to the dining table, allowing guests to experience and enjoy the dignity of the Nine Five Sovereigns.
