The National Day holiday is already approaching. I has received many questions concerning the longest holiday of the year. I have formulated this strategy based on the questions.

Transportation

Recommendation of transportation: During National Day holiday, many people are taking trips, and traffic jams are expected on all major highways, so this time I still recommend public transportation as the first choice.

★★★ Reasons for taking city buses:

I. Taking buses is economical and cheap, and also relatively safe;

II. There are many buses moving between Tongxiang high-speed railway station and Wuzhen, with limited stops. III. In fact, the road traffic will be relatively busy during the National Day holiday, so there is little difference in traveling time between driving and taking public transportation, but with the latter, you can avoid the trouble of parking.

★★★ Tips for Transportation:

1. There is no airport in Wuzhen. If you are taking a flight, you can go to Shanghai, Hangzhou and other cities near Tongxiang, and then take the train or long-distance buses.

2. If you take the train, you will arrive at Tongxiang railway station, and then you can take bus K282 to at Wuzhen bus station.

3. If you take a long-distance bus, you can arrive directly at Tongxiang bus station, and then transfer to Wuzhen bus station. Shanghai, Hangzhou and Xitang all have direct buses to Wuzhen Bus Station.

★★★ Route Guide for Driving:

(1) Shanghai to Wuzhen: 1. Pudong Airport → Shenjiahu Expressway → Tongxiang Wuzhen Exit (to Wuzhen) 2. Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway (Shanghai-Kunming Expressway) → Zhajiasu Expressway (to Suzhou) → Shenjiahu Expressway (to the direction of Huzhou) -→ Exit of Wuzhen, Tongxiang (to Wuzhen).

(2) Suzhou to Wuzhen: Sujiahang Expressway - → Transfer from Wangjiangjing Toll Station to Shenjiahu Expressway (to Huzhou) → Tongxiang Wuzhen Exit (to Wuzhen).

(3) Nanjing to Wuzhen: 1. Hangning Expressway (towards Hangzhou) - → Shenjiahu Expressway (to Jiaxing, Shanghai) - → Tongxiang Wuzhen Exit (to Wuzhen); 2. Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway - → ZhaJiasu Expressway(to Hangzhou, transfer from Wangjiangyu Toll Station to Shenjiahu Expressway) - → Shenjiahu Expressway (to Huzhou) - → Tongxiang Wuzhen Exit (to Wuzhen).

(4) Tongxiang to Wuzhen: Tongxiang-→ First Grade (Salt Lake) highway—→Yaozhen Line—→ Wuzhen.

 (5) Hangzhou to Wuzhen: 1, Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway (Shanghai-Kunming Expressway) (towards Shanghai)--→ Tongxiang Gaoqiao Exit→ Yingbin Avenue to Tongxiang→Overpass Wuzhen direction signboard; 2. Hangzhou Lianhang Expressway to the end—→Shenjiahu Expressway (towards Shanghai)—→Wuzhen Exit (to Wuzhen).

(6) Jiaxing to Wuzhen: 1. Jiaxing - → Jiahu Highway - → Yaozhen Line - → Wuzhen; 2. Jiaxing - → Jiatong Highway - → First Grade (Salt Lake) Highway - → Yao Zhen Line - → Wuzhen.

(7) Ningbo to Wuzhen: Hangzhou Bay Bridge - → Zhajiasu Expressway → Shenjiahu Expressway (to Huzhou direction) → Tongxiang Wuzhen exit (to Wuzhen direction).

(8) Wenzhou to Wuzhen: Zhuyong Expressway - → After Zhuji (toward Hangzhou) transfer to Shanghai-Kunming Expressway (to Jiaxing direction) - → Tongxiang Gaoqiao exit - → go straight along Yingbin Avenue in Tongxiang - → in Tongxiang At the intersection of Yingbin Avenue and Erhuan South Road, take the roundabout into the Second Ring South Road and go straight to Wuzhen—→ First Grade (Salt Lake) Highway→→Yao Zhen Line—→ Wuzhen.

★★★ Parking Guide:

(1) Dongzha Scenic Zone Parking Lot

Dongzha Scenic Zone Parking Lot is located on Ziye Road in Wuzhen. The floor area is 25018.55 square meters. There are 386 small parking spaces and 132 large parking spaces.

Parking fee: (in principle, no parking is allowed at night)

(2) Xizha No. 1 Parking Lot

The Xizha No. 1 parking lot covers a total area of more than 35,000 square meters, with 280 small parking spaces and 86 large parking spaces. The entire parking lot has three gates: east, south and north (the east and the south ones are the entrances, and the north one is the exit). Fee is charged in ETC.

Xizha No. 1 underground parking lot is located on the north side of West Parking Lot, adjacent to the East Gate. It covers an area of 15,000 square meters and has a floor area of about 30,000 square meters. It is a two-story underground building with a ground-view landscape theme park. With 825 parking spaces, it is equipped with a light sensing system, parking space guidance, intelligent search system, rainwater recovery system, etc.

(3) Xizha No. 2 Parking Lot

The second parking lot of Xizha is located on Huanhe Road, Wuzhen (turning left for 200 meters from Qi'an Bridge). It covers an area of more than 92,000 square meters and has 1,600 parking spaces. It has opened for business since October 2014.

(4) Xizha No. 3 Parking Lot

The third parking lot of Xizha is located on the west side of the staff dormitory of Wuzhen Middle School. There are about 650 parking spaces. At present, it is only open on at peak times such as the golden week, or peak season of traveling, and only for small cars, charged 10 yuan / time.

Tips:

1. The parking lot only provides parking spaces for tourists, and the fee is charged for space occupancy;

2. Tourists are free to park for 30 minutes, and such criteria is subject to cars parked over 24 hours.

3. All vehicles should be parked in the designated area according to their types. Please lock the windows and doors after parking, and carry or store valuables with you.

4. Wuzhen West Scenic Spot Smart Parking Lot, No. 1 parking lot is equipped with Tesla charging piles, which can be self-charged by the owners.

Accommodation

In Wuzhen, the best accommodations are hotels and inns in Xizha Scenic Area.  Compared to other places, staying in Xizha Scenic Area, you can experience more deeply Jiangnan Water Town and sleep nearby the water. There are several reasons for recommending accommodations in the scenic spot:

||You can enjoy the morning view of Wuzhen, have multiple visits to the scenic spot, and take free rides on the tour bus.

Wuzhen West Scenic Area Opening Hours: Summer (8:00-17:30); Winter (8:00-17:00)

That is to say, if you stay in Wuzhen Scenic Area, before 9:00 am or after 22:00 pm, you can enjoy a beautiful early morning or night in Wuzhen during this small holiday.

During your stay in the scenic spot, you can use the hotel deposit slip and relevant documents to get a pass from the service window at the entrance of the scenic spot. You can enter and exit the scenic spot at any time with the pass, valid during your stay.

In addition, your document must be collected at check-in. With it or the room card, you can take the 24-hour tour bus for free.

You don't need to worry about your luggage. Tourists can hand it over to the hotel at the tourist service center, and apply for a pass at the entrance of the scenic spot.

Night tour at the West:

If you choose to night tour Wuzhen West, you will have great advantages if you stay in the scenic area.

During the day, you can go to the East Scenic Zone in Wuzhen, or take a walk in the old town area to experience the traditional Jiangnan. Then you may go back to the scenic spot and take a break. At dinner, you can go and taste the special snacks, sauce duck, Dingsheng cake and so on.

Green Rice Ball

A night tour in water town cannot be without an experience on the waters. Here, you can take an oar-propelled boat and take a look at the scenery on the Xishi River. Tickets can be bought until 21:30 for the four tourist boats at the Visitor Center (Andufang) Quay, Ruyi Bridge Quay, Temple of General Wu and Dockside Quay.

If you want to enjoy the night in Wuzhen alone, you can wait until 22:00 and leave your room. Although the area is closed, the town is open till 23:00, during which time you can enjoy the night view of Jiangnan.

➤Tour in West in the Morning:

The town in the early morning is at its most beautiful time.

Staying in Wuzhen, you will open your eye in the morning accompanied by the wake of the whole town. In the early morning sunlight, a stream flows under a small bridge, the beauty of which exists only in heaven. On the banks of the river, you may take a picture of the town in the morning wind and find a riverside family restaurant for a cup of hot tea or a traditional Jiangnan breakfast. If it is still early, you can take a boat and feel the freshness of Jiangnan.

Regarding accommodation, I has one more special recommendation here, which is Wu Village. Why do I want to introduce Wu Village? It is an all-inclusive experience resort farm, in which,  a sum of money will cover all food, accommodation and entertainment. In the old village on the canal, there is still a lot of peace from the old days.

Tour Route in Wu Village, Wuzhen

Wu Village is a resort, more accurately a high-end rural tourist resort, where every building has a space for experience and exchange, and where you can sit down for tea, reading and communication.
