Introduction: After the 12th China Wuzhen Incense Fair Festival, the folk art form of “Water Opera” was completely preserved and used again as a regular performance in the scenic spot.

“Water Opera”, also known as “Group Drama” and “Wood Stage Opera”, has similarities and differences with the “Street Dama” and “Live drama” during the Anti-Japanese War. The social drama of Wuzhen was born in the characteristics of the south of the Yangtze River and the rural harbor. Therefore, it is called “water community play” or “water town play”. It is often used in the open area along the river to build a simple pavilion, one facing the water, one side to the shore, the stage is covered with straw, and there are hanging lights and petrol lights on both sides. The actors and the musicians are all local people. The repertoire is the silkworms, the characteristic dances, the operas and folk raps that the common people like to see. It not only preserves the original taste of the traditional grass-tweed play, but also updates the performances of modern songs and dances that meet the needs of modern people. Visitors can also participate in it, and they can perform talents with the casters of Caotai Opera. During the performance, the front and back of the stage and the land on the ship can be viewed at the same time.
