Xu Changming was born in Wuzhen, Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province in December 1929. Xu Changming studied in Wuzhen from a young age and left Wuzhen at the age of 17. Since 1964, he had been creating large-scale murals and designing various product brochures for the previous "China Fashion Fairs"; In 1972, he was awarded the Design Award by the American Bomingdai Company; In 1973, he edited several art collections such as Chinese Painting, Famous Paintings on the Sea, and Chinese Crafts; From 1982 to 1983, he went Yugoslavia and the Philippines respectively to worked as the overall designer of the Shanghai Pavilion of the "International Expo" and won awards; In 1993, his work was included in the Fifty Years of Chinese Art published by the Ministry of Culture, and he has held multiple solo art exhibitions both domestically and internationally. The work Spring Chant is collected by the Nanhai Purple Light Pavilion. He Successfully held solo art exhibitions in countries such as Singapore, Belgium, and the United States. He was the former director of the China Artists Association, vice chairman of the Shanghai Artists Association, first-class artist, director of the Shanghai Association for Foreign Cultural Exchange, part-time painter at the Shanghai Chinese Academy of Painting, visiting professor at the School of Fine Arts of Shanghai University, and honorary dean of Jiaxing Academy of Painting, enjoying special allowances from the State Council. He have long presided over the work of the Shanghai Artists Association and served as a judge and general judge for the 7th, 8th, and 9th national sessions. Mr. Xu loves his hometown and supports its cultural construction. Currently, there is a Changming Painting Garden in West Gate, Wuzhen, showcasing the Mr.Xu's classic works and lifelong collections.
