Wuzhen Tourism plans to launch the 10th Wuzhen Children’s Folkgame Festival from June 29th to August 26th, 2012 in Wuzhen Scenic Zone in a bid to show the insight of Wuzhen's traditional culture.
Wuzhen Children’s Folkgame focusing on traditional pleasurable activities, has been listed as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Tongxiang City. There are more than twenty traditional games are available on this festival such as kick shuttlecock, jacks, spinning top, and waterwheel. Not only Children can take part in these games but also parents. Parents can make an indigo fabric or a pottery with children, or make a competition on klotski or Speed Dial. The memories of childhood are always the sweetest. This is a holiday for children and a time to play traditional games with them. It’s a chance to relive our own carefree childhood and renew our intimacy with the kids.
Besides Chinese children, Wuzhen's folkgame festival also attracts American students. The American organization People to People has arranged more than 5000 students from age 14 to 18 on the past four years.
